CAD, GIS & OS Agriculture Maps

UK Map Centre supplies the base mapping — you overlay your own agricultural data, boundaries and analysis. Our Ordnance Survey datasets help farmers, surveyors and estate managers evaluate land capability, soil quality and crop potential across Great Britain. Choose from simple Basic Plans, editable CAD layers or comprehensive GIS tiles.

Basic Plans — PDF & Aerial Extracts

Easy-to-use Ordnance Survey extracts for agricultural reports, mapping and visual reference. Each plan includes a north arrow, scale bar and OS licence text — ready to print or add to documents.

CAD Data — MasterMap & Terrain 5 DTM

Editable vector mapping for AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit. Use as the base mapping for your own drainage, soil zones, irrigation lines and infrastructure.

Supplied in DWG / DXF, fully georeferenced to OSGB36 / BNG.

GIS Data — Tiles & AOI Extracts

Professional GIS datasets for QGIS, ArcGIS and more. Combine topography, contours and imagery to model land capability, slope, soil drainage and field performance.

Supplied in SHP, GeoPackage, GeoTIFF or GML, ready to overlay with your own data.

About OS Agriculture Mapping

Built from authoritative Ordnance Survey layers — MasterMap Topography®, Terrain 5 and VectorMap Local — our datasets provide accurate, georeferenced mapping for farmland and estates. Use them for land capability analysis, drainage design, soil & yield mapping, and environmental assessments.

  • Scales from 1:3 000 to 1:25 000
  • Contours, boundaries, water features and vegetation mapping
  • Compatible with QGIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Revit & Civil 3D
  • Fully georeferenced to UK National Grid (EPSG:27700)

Frequently Asked Questions — OS Agriculture Mapping

Do Ordnance Survey agriculture maps show field numbers?

No — current Ordnance Survey mapping no longer includes field parcel numbers. Historically, OS Landline and County Series mapping displayed field numbers, but these have been replaced by Defra’s Rural Land Register (RLR) and associated datasets for agricultural referencing.

Our OS base maps provide boundaries, contours (optional on certain scales), watercourses and features — the essential framework to which you can overlay your own data such as field IDs, crop areas or Defra parcel references.

Where do field parcel numbers now come from?

Field numbers are managed by Defra and associated regional agencies such as RPA (England) and RPID (Scotland) through the Rural Land Register (RLR) and Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS). These identifiers are not part of Ordnance Survey mapping and must be obtained directly from Defra or via your rural payments account.

What is included with an OS Agriculture Map?

Our datasets include the OS MasterMap Topography Layer®, OS Terrain 5 elevation model and VectorMap Local (1:10,000) for clear, accurate base mapping. You can add your own layers for field names, soil data, drainage lines, or crop zones within CAD or GIS software.

Can I overlay Defra or RPA data on OS base mapping?

Yes — Defra and RPA data can be imported into your GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and overlaid directly on our OS datasets. All mapping is supplied georeferenced to the British National Grid (OSGB36) for precise alignment.

Are OS Agriculture Maps suitable for farm planning and environmental reporting?

Absolutely — they’re used for land capability analysis, drainage planning, soil studies, and environmental reports. These are base maps — you overlay your own data to show land parcels, yield plots or conservation areas.

Can I use these maps for DEFRA or RPA submissions?

Yes — our OS MasterMap and OS Terrain 5 datasets are widely accepted for supporting documentation in agricultural, environmental and planning submissions. Each map includes a north arrow, scale bar, coordinate grid and OS licence number for compliance.

Can I request mapping centred on my farm or estate boundary?

Yes — all products are site-centred. Provide a postcode, farm name or upload your GIS boundary and we’ll generate a precise extract for your area of interest (AOI).

What’s the accuracy of OS Agriculture Maps?

All data is sourced directly from Ordnance Survey and aligned to the British National Grid, offering positional accuracy within 1 metre. OS MasterMap data is updated on a continuous six-week cycle to maintain current coverage.

Can I combine aerial imagery with OS agriculture datasets?

Yes — pairing OS Aerial Imagery with OS MasterMap and OS Terrain 5 gives a complete picture of your land’s topography and surface conditions.

Who uses OS Agriculture Mapping?

Farmers, agronomists, surveyors, consultants and estate managers use OS mapping to plan infrastructure, manage compliance, and assess land capability for sustainable farming.
